On 24 February 2014, we reported that a Day Nursery in Billericay had been temporarily shut while detectives carried out an inquiry.
At the time, reasons for the closure were unclear, except for police stating that “The safeguarding and well-being of the children is a priority for all of the agencies involved.”
This week, following the investigation, the nursery manager has been charged with one count of child cruelty, two counts of common assault and a racially aggravated public order offence.
Another nursery worker has been charged with a racially aggravated public order offence.
Both are scheduled to appear in front of Basildon Magistrates’ Court on 10 April.
