Aliette, Director of Marketing at The Spanish Nursery, wanted to let us know about the exciting new addition to their nursery’s curriculum to help encourage children’s physical development:

The Spanish Nursery and Children’s Centre for Culture and Language, located in London, will be offering tennis classes as part of the day-to-day curriculum.

The nursery, which cares for children aged 2 to 5 years of age, recognises that physical development (moving and handling) is an important part of the Early Years Foundation Stage and, as such, they believe tennis is a great way to introduce children to sport and having an active  lifestyle.

The hope is that the children will be able practice their control and co-ordination skills in the classes, as well as learning the importance of physical exercise as a means of maintaining good health.

Last April, the nursery organised a fundraising activity for Sports Relief at the Islington Tennis Centre, raising £80 for charity. The children and parents enjoyed it so much that the team  felt it would be wonderful to add it to the curriculum.

Classes started on 3rd October and now take place once per week on a Friday.
