Parents from Boys & Girls Nursery (Croxley Green, Rickmansworth, Stanmore and Watford) attended a First Aid Workshop at Watford Hilton last night with special guest speaker Brian Goodwin from Pegasus Health & Safety Training. Brian has many years’ experience delivering training to many organisations including our very own Boys & Girls Nursery team! Topics included Fire Safety, Choking Prevention, Slips, Trips and Falls, Electrical Safety, Burns and Scalds and Water Safety.

Parents were invited to ask questions throughout the talk and also had the opportunity to use the dummies to understand the techniques used to help a choking baby, child and adult.

Natasha Kirby, Director of Boys & Girls Nursery, says: ‘This was a free event for our parents and the feedback has been great. After the success of the St John’s Ambulance choking advert we decided to offer a First Aid Workshop so parents could gain hands-on experience. We work with Brian regularly for our team training – over 94% of our current team are first aid qualified and we wanted to give parents the opportunity to learn some basic lifesaving skills too.

“We have lots of talks and workshops in the pipeline that we are sure our parents will find just as informative including sleep and behaviour tips.’
