Worthing mayor Sean McDonald visited Ferring Funtime Pre-school last week, explaining to the children what his role was.
Tots aged two to five were excited to see the chain of office, with the mayor telling them it was more than 125 years old. He also showed them the badge of Worthing and the badge of Sussex.
Jacqui Page, who works at the setting, said: “The mayor met and chatted to the children and was happy to answer questions about his role.
“The pre-school is keen to make links with the community to support children’s understanding of rules and responsibilities within other professions.”
How important is it to have figureheads of the local community support your setting in educating children?
