The staff at Kiddi Caru’s Burgess Hill day nursery have been planning activities so that their children have fun-filled days, celebrating special events throughout the year.
They celebrated Winnie the Pooh day on the 18th January, with a variety of activities that were inspired by the Winnie the Pooh stories and its characters. The children made up their own stories, sharing them with one another in the owl story corner. They also enjoyed games like ‘Pin the tail on the Eeyore’ and pretended to be bouncing tigers, jumped in puddles like Pooh and made honey flapjacks.
Gemma Burnett, nursery manager, said: “The children here love reading about Winnie the Pooh and his friends and all of the books are story time favourites. We had a lovely day celebrating all things Winnie the Pooh and the children especially enjoyed splashing around in puddles in the garden.”
The children also celebrated Chinese New Year with a giant Chinese dragon which they paraded around the nursery garden. The youngsters made Chinese lanterns and tasted lots of traditional Chinese dishes.
Ms Burnett said: “We love to celebrate lots of diverse festivals from all over the world as part of our inclusive activities and also so that children learn to embrace lots of different cultures.”
