Stibbard Children’s Day Care could be forced to close in July if they are unable to find a new chairman.
Run by a committee of parents, the setting provides care for 70 children aged 2-11 and run services including a holiday club, after school club, breakfast club and day care.
Having been operational for 25 years, they are losing their chairman, who steps down in July, and so far efforts to find a replacement have not been successful.
Dawn Smith, acting day care manager, has said: “There is a great need in this area for the services that we provide and it would cause a real problem for people if we did have to close.
“It is a common problem in the north Norfolk area to find chairperson.
“It is a voluntary role it is requires people to have a certain skill set but training can be provided by Norfolk County Council.
“The centre is run by a management committee of parents but you don’t need to be a parent to do the job. We are calling out to the wider community for support.
“It can be very rewarding to know that you are helping the community and having a say over how things are run.
“We are hoping someone can come forward to help us.”
Amongst the 70 children they care for are a number of children with special educational needs and disabilities. The setting not only supports Fakenham but the surrounding areas as well.
The centre are appealing for people who may be interested in the post to get in touch, contacting Mrs Smith by calling 01328 829426 or emailing email@example.com
