“Since 2013, we have been involved in the processes set out in the Small Workplace Health Awards. This award is the national mark of quality for health and wellbeing in the workplace, for businesses employing less than 50 people. It has three levels of award to recognise each development stage achieved.
“We gained our first award, the Bronze, early on in 2013 and have now worked our way up to becoming the first nursery in South Wales to achieve the Gold award.
“This achievement has been possible because of the hard work and dedication of our wonderful staff, supported by management.
“These processes have given staff the opportunity to become more aware of their own health and wellbeing, as well as giving the management team the tools to help them. This has resulted in a happier, healthier and more confident workforce who enjoy coming to work in the knowledge that they are valued and supported.
“We have run a few staff awareness training evenings that have been fun and enjoyable and these have brought all members of staff closer together as a team. I would fully recommend this award process for any small business wanting to improve the health and wellbeing of their staff.
Joanne Boycott, Nursery Owner, said: “I’m extremely proud of the hard work and contribution from all of the staff. After nearly 20 years of being open, we continue to strive to maintain our excellent standards and this is only possible with the dedication of our staff.”
