Laura Bowery, Director at Shotley Bridge Nursery School, wanted to share with us how her nursery celebrated Chinese culture with the children recently:
Today the staff and children from Shotley Bridge Nursery School visited The Pavilion at Iveston to celebrate Chinese New Year.
It was a brilliant opportunity for the children to experience some Chinese food and learn about a different cultural celebration. They had made a traditional dragon-lion and performed a lion dance for staff at the restaurant.
The Pavilion very kindly organised a room for the children to sample some traditional Chinese cuisine and they received miniature gold and red sheep as a gift to recognise the Year of the Sheep. The children thoroughly enjoyed their visit and exchanged red envelopes with staff – a traditional custom at this time of year.
