Little Treasures Pre-School Day Nursery Caterham has achieved an “outstanding” grade from Ofsted for a second consecutive time.
Based in the former Caterham Baracks complex, the centre was deemed “outstanding” on all counts following an unannounced inspection in July. They were judged on children’s wellbeing, the quality of early years provision and the nursery’s leadership.
The report stated: “Staff provide extremely stimulating and imaginative experiences for all the children, which motivates them exceptionally well to learn and achieve.”
“This prepares them very well for future learning and moving on to school.”
They were also praised for their “consistently excellent” standard of teaching, backed up by regular staff supervision and a robust recruitment process plus great relationships with parents of the children they care for.
One suggestion for improvement was to involve the children in the checking of the premises, extending their understanding of safe practices.
Little Treasures has capacity for up to 140 children, to a maximum of eight years old. Employing 20 members of staff, including an on-site cook.
The Ofsted team’s visit included observing indoor and outdoor play activities, gauging parents’ views, speaking with staff and reviewing the nursery’s procedures.
