Sure Start Day Nursery based in Wooler Children’s Centre has received an “outstanding” grade from industry watchdog Ofsted.
Inspected at the start of August, the setting has been rated outstanding in all three main areas.
The setting is currently amidst some controversial changes, which has seen them amalgamate with another setting. This means there is currently no provision to take on further 0-3 year olds, with the streamlined provision also causing some to lose their jobs.
Despite this current upheaval, the Ofsted report published stated that staff, “provide a diverse range of exciting and engaging experiences for children.”
“Engage with children and their parents as they enter the setting, warmly welcoming them, chatting about children’s needs and celebrating their achievements.”
It went on to add, “All staff are reflective, evaluative and work together to continually improve the setting.”
The report also highlighted the excellent leadership within the setting, stating that, “the manager is skilled at analysing and using data to review the progress of individuals and groups of children to ensure high levels of progress are sustained over time.”
