Children at a Maidenhead nursery have been getting into the Christmas spirit lately by organising a food collection for a local food bank.

The Co-operative Childcare nursery in Maidenhead worked hard and managed to pack 3 crates with food donated from the parents and children, as well as vegetables freshly picked from their allotment at the nursery.

Nursery manager Katie Hatter said, “We are so proud of all of the efforts made by the children through their impressive collection. As a group we talked about the importance of the work done by Maidenhead Foodshare and the children were so inspired, they couldn’t wait to help – raiding cupboards at home and encouraging parents to get involved.”

The Maidenhead food bank relies heavily on donations and gives food parcels and vouchers to more than 100 families a week.
