Parenta Trust has broken ground for the build of its third nursery school in Uganda, which is due to be completed later this year.
Parenta Trust’s second school was built in the Kaberamaido district of Eastern Uganda and completed in July 2015. Thanks to its sponsorship programme, 32 children have now been enrolled in this school.
Like all previous schools funded by the Parenta Trust, the new building will have a rainwater harvesting system to provide children and staff with clean water to drink. Upon its completion, the nursery school will have 3 large classrooms and an accompanying block of latrines.
Allan Presland, MD of Parenta and a trustee of the charity, said: “I am delighted that we have been able to move ahead with this school. I visited this area of Uganda two years ago and was shocked at the level of poverty and how it impacted such young children.
“Within the next 6 months though, we should have our school completed – providing access to pre-school education for around 150 orphaned and disadvantaged children under 5.”
