Press release: Emma Tennant, Director of The Wigwam Day Nursery is already hailing 2016 as a year to remember. Simultaneously undertaking an award from the Children’s Food Trust for their nursery menus and Investors In People is no mean feat by anyone’s standards however, the Reading based nursery certainly rose to the challenge. The Wigwam Day Nursery gained an outstanding award from the national Children’s Food Trust. For the Investors In People they gained the very highest award possible and were given a ‘Gold’. Along with its sister nursery, The Teepee in Bracknell, it is the first nursery in the whole of the UK to have received both of these awards, and all in the same month, so they invited MP for Reading East Rob Wilson to join the celebrations on 11.30 on 8th April, 2016.
Emma Tennant, owner of The Wigwam said: “Receiving these awards has been a fantastic way to start the year. We constantly strive to offer outstanding care and education for both the children and our colleagues and achieving these awards is proof of this.”
“Achieving the Children’s Food Trust Outstanding Food Award is amazing; it is a real testament to all of the planning and effort that goes into preparing and serving meals at the nursery. As a mother myself, I understand the importance of good nutrition in children’s growth and development and now our customers have the additional reassurance that our menus meet these strict criteria that is backed by the government. To be one of only a handful of nurseries in the country is even more exciting.”
Adam Starkey, Chair of the Children’s Food Trust, said: “When parents are choosing a school or nursery, we always want to know what the foods like. We want to know our kids will be getting great food and that they’ll be encouraged to eat well.”
“This award gives parents that peace of mind. It’s a clear sign that children are getting a great foundation for a healthy start and The Wigwam Day Nursery sets a great example. Congratulations to the whole team, we’re delighted to welcome you on board as one of our first award winners in Berkshire. ”
Commenting on winning the prestigious Investors in People (IIP) Gold Standard, Head of Investors in People, Paul Devoy said: “We’d like to congratulate The Wigwam Day Nursery on their Gold standard. Such a high level of accreditation is the sign of great people management practice, demonstrates a commitment to staff development and shows an organisation committed to being the very best it can be. The Wigwam Day Nursery should be extremely proud of their achievement.”
Michelle Jenner, Nursery Manager, went on to add “Not many companies achieve the Gold standard. Of all the organisations that apply to Investors in People it is awarded to 7% of them. Such an amazing award is usually associated with much larger companies but that’s what makes us different. I feel so very proud to be a part of such great nurseries and surrounded by an amazing group of people that I am proud to call my colleagues.”
