Diary of childcare apprentice Melanie Pitt – Week 15

On Friday I decided to stay a little later at the pre-school than my normal working hours and paint the Wendy house in the garden. I plan to add numbers, letters and lots of lovely flowers to the outdoor area for the children.

It’s the second week of the new term and my 5 key children are settling in well. This week staff have also been given a course to complete on FGM (female genital mutilation). For my apprenticeship, I have to take a quiz on the Prevent duty and British values too.

For my next observation, I need to plan an activity for one of my children which will be overseen by a trainee assessor who’s being guided by my assessor, Linda. So, as usual, there’s never a boring moment!
