Press release from Yateley Community Pre-school:

The children at Yateley Community Pre-school (YCPS) recently took part in a sponsored bike ride, to raise much-needed funds to help secure the future of the local educational charity.

Yateley Community Pre-school is a charitable organisation in Yateley, offering educational childcare for children aged between 2 and 5 years old. The Pre-school has consistently been rated Outstanding by Ofsted since 2008, but it relies heavily upon fundraising in order to stay open.

To help keep the much-loved Pre-school running for local families, the children at YCPS took part in a sponsored summer bike ride – where pupils did as many laps of the playground as they wished, on bikes, scooters and ride-on vehicles. Much fun was had by all, as well as an impressive £600 raised for the charity.

Jennie Mallin, Manager at Yateley Community Pre-school, said: “We are a community pre-school and feel passionate about working with local children and families. We rely heavily on the generosity of our fantastic parents and community by holding fundraising events, such as at the May Fayre, Lions’ Christmas Fair and other fun evenings – with one common factor of raising funds to keep YCPS the best it can be.”

Anna Trevelyan, a parent of one of the children, said: “My son absolutely loves YCPS, and he was only too happy to take part in the sponsored bike ride to help his favourite charity! He has just started school, and being at YCPS from 2 years old prepared him so well for the next stage. He has really impressed us with all he has learned at Pre-school, and the caring setting mixed with fun learning has helped him to thrive. I’d recommend YCPS to any parent. I hope the fundraising efforts help the charity to stay open as they do a wonderful job in nurturing the next generation.”
