Press release from Little Adventurers Nursery in Upminster.

Giving children the best possible start in life is a passion that runs through the whole team at Little Adventurers Nursery in Upminster, London Borough of Havering. Nursery parents seem to agree; for the second year running Little Adventurers have been recommended as a Top 20 London Nursery by Daynurseries.co.uk based on 78,000 reviews from nursery parents.

This isn’t the only accolade Little Adventurers Nursery are celebrating; on 12th June they were guests of London Mayor, Sadiq Khan and Deputy Mayor of London, Joanne McCartney at City Hall for The Healthy Early Years London Celebration Event. Nursery Manager, Ginny Andreas presented the nursery’s impressive work for their Silver HEYL Award of Supporting Strong Oral Hygiene throughout their setting. This initiative is now fully embedded within the nursery’s wider provision of promoting healthy lifestyles and social responsibility for all children and their families.

Nursery Manager, Ginny Andreas, speaking about both awards, “Little Adventurers nursery is so proud to have the honour of being recognised as a top 20 recommended nursery in London! Taking part in the Celebration HEYL Event was amazing especially as our nursery is only 4 years old – we are incredibly proud of all of our achievements so far! The impact our oral hygiene work is having on children, their families and staff is amazing to watch. It’s fantastic to think that our work now, in children’s early years, sets a precedent for life long awareness of the need for strong oral hygiene.”

Commenting on receiving a Top 20 London Nursery award, Chris Ford, Business Development Manager said, “Receiving the Award from Day nurseries for the second year running is a tremendous accolade as essentially this is about what parents feel are the best nurseries. Knowing that the award is based on our own nursery parents’ independent reviews is extremely rewarding. Our nursery is built around giving children the best possible start in life and if parents feel assured and safe leaving their little ones in our hands, there is no greater recommendation than that”.

The data which led to the nursery undertaking their oral health project surrounded results of a survey from 2013 which highlighted these depressing statistics:-

  • 25% of children who start school have tooth decay
  • 12% of 3 year old’s had 3 or more teeth with tooth decay
  • 58% of children not visiting the dentist regularly
  • 8,000 episodes of tooth extraction in under 5’s due to tooth decay
  • Little Adventurers nursery is so proud to have the honour of being recognised as a top 20 recommended nursery in London!

“We work hard to ensure that the children are central to all we do, with plenty of opportunities to be creative, solve problems and find out about our wonderful world! We are privileged to be able to nurture the flexible brains that children will need on their journey through life, through exploration and investigation We believe that everything is a learning opportunity for children so when there’s a digger across the road, we’ll take every opportunity to take groups of children across to watch what’s happening and use it as a base exploring ideas and questions. Our nursery is organised such that our highly professional staff team are able to take children out into the community regularly; to the local woodland, park, shops and on the bus to the duck pond which all provide fantastic learning opportunities”, explained Nursey Manager Ginny Andreas.

Little Adventurers offers optimum nutrition and work in partnership with an early Years nutritionist to provide completely balanced menus which meet the whole daily nutrient requirement for children under 5. “Before our nursery opened, we decided that excellent nutrition was going to be a key aim of the nursery,” Chris Ford explained. “We regularly review our menus with our nutritionist; we teach children about where food comes from and they enjoy planting and nurturing vegetables in our nursery veggie patch. Again, helping to lay down healthy nutritional habits in early childhood is so important and as a nursery we are determined to play our part in this.”

One of our Nursery Parent reviews:
“Little Adventurers really is the most wonderful place! I am so thrilled with the level of care provided for my son; he is nurtured, developed, loved and appreciated by the staff that care for him now and have done over the past 3 years. Staff allow and encourage children to be independent and provide a good foundation for them to begin school. The nursery provides extra activities such as football and having the duckling eggs in the preschool room which are both good experiences for the children to have. The food provided is excellent quality and is such a good and varied menu. I would highly recommend Little Adventurers Nursery.”
