Press release from The Nursery in Portishead.
Children at The Nursery in Portishead, near Bristol, took part in a graduation ceremony to celebrate their completion of pre-school.
Each child received a graduation certificate and an ‘Off to School’ water bottle as a parting gift. The leavers also all painted a picture of what they want to be when they grow up and stood before an audience of staff and parents to explain their choice.
Nursery owner, Jackie Hardie, said: “We always like to celebrate the children’s individual development and completion of pre-school as they prepare to head off to primary school. Many of them have been with us since they were babies and we will miss them a lot, but that said, we have been helping them prepare for primary school for some time and they are more than ready for this next step. We wish them all good luck and look forward to hearing all about their exciting new experiences.”
The graduation ceremony was held at Sperrings Farm at Clapton in Gordano, just outside Portishead, where the children have been taking part in Farm School on a regular basis over the past year. Jackie developed farm school with the owners of the farm to encourage learning outside the classroom and allow the children an opportunity to get up close with animals on a regular basis, learning through play and experiencing different aspects of farm life out in the fresh air.
