Press release from: Watermead Day Nursery
This week is National Intergenerational Week, here at Watermead Day Nursery we are passionate about intergenerational activity and for several years our children have been visiting Longcliffe Nursing Home developing some amazing intergenerational friendships. During the various ‘lockdowns’ it has proved challenging to maintain our friendships with the residents but not to be deterred from maintaining our intergenerational activities today a group of children accompanied by staff visited our local neighbours on Ralph Close leaving a bunch of spring flowers on every doorstep, whilst adhering to social distancing. Our neighbours were impressed by our children’s self-confidence and were very appreciative of our children’s random act of kindness. Staff were extremely proud of the children who delivered the flowers with confidence, pride, and a smile. We believe that opportunities for generations to connect will become even more important as we emerge from the current pandemic and we want to inspire our children to build relationships between different generations.
