Simon Evans, Senior Nursery Manager at Top Winchester, based at Royal Hampshire County Hospital, was selected as one of the ten finalists for the Famly Children’s Champion 2020 out of the close to 700 nominees.
The award focused on finding and celebrating the very best early years professional from across the UK, recognising the incredible challenges that are faced by the sector.
Simon has been working in childcare for over 10 years and is an excellent advocate and promoter of Early Years provision who creates an effective, professional and caring team who deliver an outstanding level of care and education to all children in the nursery.
A Nursery Manager at Tops said: “Simon goes above and beyond to ensure the children and staff at his setting receive the best experiences. On top of this he is always there to provide me as a senior manager inspiration and motivation when I need it. Nothing is too much trouble for Simon. He is an asset to the company and I am so glad I get to work alongside him.”
Simon is a manager who has the community at heart, teaching the importance to young people of multi-generation inherent. Simon is an ambassador of equality and diversity, leading and hosting LBGTQ+ and MITEY (Men in the Early Years) groups.
He has worked together with his local hospital offering support and child care even in the most difficult times of Covid 19 pandemic, offering sensitivity and compassion.
