Watermead day nursery staff and children were saddened by the news of the death of the Duke of Edinburgh. To pay our respects a group of children created a masterpiece with our resident artist to send to Her Majesty the Queen.
Max, our resident artist painted the picture of Philip whilst having a discussion with the children about the royal family, the colours they would need to use and also about the different painting techniques they could use. The children asked if they could use the spatter painting technique to create the background.
They decided to use to royal colours red, white and blue, there was lots of smiles and giggles whilst the children splattered the picture to finish the masterpiece.
Once the painting was dry, we carefully wrapped it up and sent in the post to Her Majesty the Queen who should receive the special delivery today. We hope she likes our amazing painting and letter of condolences we have sent to her.
