Children from Milton Hall celebrated Chinese New Year by learning about Chinese culture and making a origami Tiger card children painted orange and black on a paper plate used scissors to cut the plate to create a spiral and stuck a origami tiger face at the end of it. The tiger card was a lovely hanging dancing tiger card.
The children were told that it was the Year of the Tiger, and staff explained the story of the Chinese zodiac and how the Tiger finished in third place. The children also learned about Chinese clothing, food and writing.
Children enjoyed listening to a story about Ling Sung at school, called Cleversticks where he discovers he can do something special that other children can’t.
All the children learnt to wish each other Gung Hay Fat Chou - Happy New Year.
We would like to say a big Thank you to Sean Teo parents for preparing a gift for all the children oranges with red envelopes.
Sutindar Lal said: “The children loved celebrating Chinese New Year and learning about the Chinese culture. Activities like this encourage the children to build on their natural interest and curiosity of the wider world around them.”
