How do I achieve this childcare qualification?

Our Courses are split up into different units, and you are required to achieve a total number of credits in order to receive your qualifications. This total varies for each course. However, there’s a lot of flexibility for you to choose units which really interest you.

How long will the course take me to complete?

As with anything worthwhile, each course requires you to dedicate some of your time to it. This can be between anything between 12 and 18 months, but afterwards, you’ll have the fantastic feeling of receiving a professionally recognised qualification, setting yourself up for a long and rewarding career.

Will I need to attend classes?

Great news – there are no classes to attend! You will be allocated a Parenta assessor who will visit you on a regular basis to observe you at work in your childcare setting and check you’re fulfilling the course requirements. You’ll also be expected to complete online coursework outside of work.

Build the foundations for best practice  (formerly NVQ Level 2 in Childcare)

If you’re currently working with children in a paid role, such as a nursery nurse or pre-school assistant, and you want to learn about how to support the development of young children, this level 2 course would be ideal for you.

How do I achieve this childcare qualification?

The course is split up into different units which must total 35 credits for you to achieve a Level 2 certificate. However, there's a lot of flexibility for you to choose units which really interest you.

How will I be assessed?

During your childcare apprenticeship, you’ll be assessed through a mixture of ‘at home’ and ‘at work’ tasks. Before this happens, your assessor will talk with you to find out what learning style suits you best and tailor your assessments around it.

How long will the course take me to complete?

As with anything worthwhile, this level 2 childcare course requires you to dedicate some of your time to it. This can be between 12 and 18 months, but afterwards you’ll have the fantastic feeling of becoming a professionally recognised childcarer and set yourself up for a long and rewarding career in childcare.

Will I need to attend classes? 

Great news - there are no classes to attend! Your Parenta assessor will visit you on a regular basis to observe you at work in your childcare setting and check you’re fulfilling the course requirements. You’ll also be expected to complete online coursework outside of work, and benefit from phone support from your Parenta assessor if there’s anything at all that you need help with.

Level 3 Childcare - Early Years Educator Diploma


Enhance your knowledge to give back more to children

(formerly NVQ Level 3 Childcare) The level 3 childcare course would suit you if you are currently working in a role where you carry out regular child observations and deliver planned activities for children under 5 years. This course is ideal if you want to learn how to promote a child’s physical, emotional and social development.


How do I achieve the qualification?

The EYE qualification (formerly NVQ Level 3 in Childcare) is made up of 13 mandatory units. For each of these units, you’ll need to demonstrate your knowledge, understanding and practical skills as part of your childcare apprenticeship.

Will I need to attend classes?

Great news – there are no classes to attend! Your Parenta assessor will visit you on a regular basis to observe you at work in your childcare setting and check you’re fulfilling the course requirements. You’ll also be expected to complete online coursework outside of work. As part of your level 3 childcare course, you'll benefit from phone and email support from your Parenta assessor if there’s anything at all that you need help with.

Level 2 Diploma in Team Leading (QCF)


Learn how to get the most from your team

This team leading course is ideal if you’re currently working with children in a paid role such as Room Leader, Supervisor or Trainee Supervisor. It will help you to learn the techniques necessary for problems solving, providing support and leading a team.


How do I achieve the qualification?

The course is made up of a number of units, each with a credit score.  You’ll take a number of units which add up to a minimum of 40 credits. You’ll complete 22 credits from mandatory units and 18 credits from units of your choice. During this team leading course, you'll cover skills such as managing personal performance and development, communicating work-related information, leading and managing a team, principles of team leading and understanding business. This qualification will also include personal learning and thinking skills, employment rights and responsibilities as well as functional skills in English, Maths and ICT.

How long will the course take me to complete?

As with anything worthwhile, this team leading qualification requires you to dedicate some of your time to it. This will be 12 months, but afterwards you’ll have the fantastic feeling of becoming a professionally recognised member of staff and set yourself up for a long and rewarding career.


We are very flexible when it comes to assessment for this team leading course and can adapt to suit your individual learning style!

Will I need to attend classes?

This is a work-based course and there are no classes to attend! Your Parenta assessor will visit you on a regular basis and will support you in between visits via the telephone and online. You’ll complete the coursework online in your own time.

Level 5 childcare course


Comprehensive support to help others succeed 

(formerly NVQ Level 5 in Childcare) Level 5 is beneficial for those who are currently working as senior practitioners, deputies and managers of childcare settings. This course is ideal if you want develop and enhance your practical leadership, management knowledge and skills.


How do I achieve the qualification?

There are 2 pathways for this qualification. These are: Management Pathway This childcare course is made up of a number of units, each with a credit score.  To achieve the qualification you need to pass a number of units which add up to 90 credits.  This is made up of 64 credits from mandatory units and 26 credits from optional units. Advanced Practice Pathway To achieve the qualification you need to pass a number of units which add up to 80 credits.  This is made up of 52 credits from mandatory units and 28 credits from optional units.

How long will the course take me to complete? As with anything worthwhile, this level 5 course in childcare requires you to dedicate some of your time to it. This can be between 12-18 months, but afterwards you’ll have the fantastic feeling of having a professionally recognised qualification and set yourself up for a long and rewarding career.

 

Childcare Assessor Award


Help childcarers give their best back to children

If you’re currently working as a senior practitioner in a team leading or management role, the Childcare Assessor Award (formerly A1 Assessors Award) would be ideal for you.

To start the course, you’ll need to already have a Level 3, with two year’s team-leading experience or five years supervisory experience.


How do I achieve this childcare qualification?

You’ll need to gain 15 credits in total to achieve your assessor qualification. These are split up into three modules:

How long will it take me to complete my course?

As with anything worthwhile, this assessor course requires you to dedicate some of your time to it. This can be up to 6 months, but afterwards you'll have the fantastic feeling of becoming a professionally recognised assessor and set yourself up for a long rewarding career helping other practitioners. There are no classes to attend, but you will be required to participate in 5 full day workshops in Maidstone. You'll also need to set aside 2.5 hours a week to work on any assessments.
