Introducing Guest Author: Emma Muir
Emma Muir is a PR, communications and marketing consultant working across the early years and education sector, with a career that began in a very different place. Before childcare, she spent years as a Metropolitan Police Detective Constable, and earlier still in retail management, where she was named Manager of the Year at Clarks (the shoe shop). Those years shaped how she approaches every business problem since: methodically, and with a determination to get to the truth of what is actually going on.
Emma spent 13 years Ofsted-registered as a childminder, a period that gave her a first-hand understanding of the pressures early years professionals carry and how little recognition many of them receive for it. She completed her Level 3 childcare qualification privately with Parenta, tutored by Eva Greca, an experience she credits with giving her the confidence to build a marketing business of her own. She is now focused fully on marketing strategy, PR and the Early Years Connect expo.
She now leads PR and communications at Clear Cut Consultants, including its education arm, and runs her own brand, Nurture Socials, providing social media strategy and Meta advertising for family-facing businesses and schools. She is the author of Stop Being the Best Kept Secret, a marketing guide written specifically for childminders, and co-founder of Nurture Co: Early Years and Childcare.
She remains closely connected across the early years sector, with a particular focus on helping childminders, nurseries, and the professionals who support them get the recognition and visibility they deserve.
