Ofsted reports - explained by Parenta

Ofsted Reports - England Only

Find reports for schools, colleges, childminders, nurseries, children’s homes and more in England.

The Different Categories

Early years settings undergo assessment in four primary categories:

The quality of education

Behaviour and attitudes

Personal development

Leadership and management

The Different Grades

Following the completion of an inspection, the early years setting will be assigned one of four grades:

1. Outstanding

2. Good

3. Requires Improvement

4. Inadequate

What happens if you receive an inadequate grade?

This means that the quality of education and care for children is not perceived to be an acceptable level and you need to make significant improvements quickly.

Your setting will have another full inspection within three years, giving you time to action the necessary changes, but the exact date of the inspection will be agreed between you and Ofsted.
