What is “NAP Consistency” And How Does it Affect My Google Ranking?

NAP stands for Name, Address and Phone Number. This is the crucial information held online for your nursery location and contact details. NAP on your website is usually placed in the footer so that it appears on every page and allows parents/potential parents to contact you easily. Without displaying your NAP on your website parents/potential parents cannot get in touch (not ideal for a business!)

Not only is NAP important on your childcare website but it is also important on ALL your online listings. Search engines, such as Google, help users by producing results that both match the content they are searching for, and the locality – so your NAP listings can directly influence your ranking in local organic search results.

What is NAP consistency?

NAP consistency is all about uniformity. So, the address on your website should match all other listings online, e.g., Facebook, Twitter, DayNurseries.co.uk, local council sites, Ofsted, Yell.com etc.

Please note the inconsistencies below (including an old address)

ABC Nursery, Rocky Hill, Maidstone, Kent. ME16 8PZ. 0800 002 9242

ABC Nursery, Rocky Hill, Maidstone. ME16 8AD 0800 002 9242

ABC Nursery, 14 High Buildings, West Farleigh, Kent. 0800 002 9242

Not only is this confusing for potential parents but also for search engines. Search engines will see these inconsistencies and lose confidence in your credibility, this in turn can affect your ranking.

The best thing to do is to check all your online listings to correct any inconsistencies, here’s a great little free tool to help you check. https://www.yell.com/connectscan/
